EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE!
Hypospadias surgery is a challenging art form. The goal of the surgery is both functional -a straight penis with an urethral meatus at the end of the penis- and cosmetic. There are many types of surgical techniques for various types of hypospadias.
Dr Hüseyin Özbey has extensive experience in reconstruction of hypospadias and complex genitourinary malformations. He has recently defined the details of the anatomy of the normal human penis that have been overlooked in hypospadias surgery for decades. His novel surgical technique (Glanular-Frenular Collar: GFC technique) involves the reconstruction of the "septum glandis" and the "frenulum" with excellent functional and cosmetic results in his patients from all over the world.
Dr Hüseyin Özbey is the first to describe the "septum glandis" and the functional anatomy of the human glans penis and glanular urethra in hypospadias surgery. He described for the first time how the fossa navicularis and septum glandis act as a “flow control chamber” in the dynamics of urine flow. Using his own "Özbey Collar" and the Glanular-Frenular Collar (GFC) techniques, he introduced a new era in hypospadias surgery.
